Founder & Managing Director

Sharif Tanamli has more than thirty years of investment banking experience focused on M&A and capital transactions with middle-market companies.  He is the founder and managing director of Lenox Hill Capital Advisors, Inc., which he formed to provide advisory services in the areas of mergers & acquisitions, private equity and debt capital transactions, and related services in the areas of strategic planning, business valuations, exit planning and ownership transitions for privately held companies.

Mr. Tanamli previously worked with HT Capital – a private merchant banking firm where he participated in the firm’s private equity investing activities in addition to providing M&A advisory services to clients he originated for the firm.  Prior to this, Mr. Tanamli was a founding managing director of CBIZ Mergers & Acquisitions Group, Inc., where he ran the firm’s New York investment banking office.  During his five years with CBIZ M&A Group, Mr. Tanamli was responsible for managing all aspects of the firm’s business in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions.  Before co-founding CBIZ M&A Group, Mr. Tanamli was managing director of Niederhoffer-Henkel & Co. an established boutique investment bank, which he joined in 1991 and subsequently merged in 1999 with CBIZ, Inc. – a publicly-traded U.S. accounting and business services firm.   While with Niederhoffer-Henkel, Mr. Tanamli was involved in a variety of M&A and corporate finance assignments both domestically and internationally.  Mr. Tanamli began his finance career at Lehman Brothers.   

Mr. Tanamli has extensive experience in all matters relating to middle market corporate finance, including: advising business owners in transition and exit planning and business valuations, executing mergers, acquisitions, private equity recapitalizations, management buyouts and raising growth capital.  He has led transactions in a wide variety of industries including: automotive, industrial and engineered products; commercial products; building products; consumer products (food & beverage, health & beauty, consumer services); retail & luxury products; restaurants & foodservice; business services (litigation support, staffing, IT services, BPO services, facilities management & maintenance services); leisure and hobby products (toys, arts, crafts, musical instruments); construction and engineering services (electrical and telecom contracting, landscaping services); software and information technology; communications, media and entertainment; among others.

Mr. Tanamli has advised companies throughout North America and Europe and has experience with the unique issues facing mid-sized, privately-held companies, family businesses and entrepreneurial ventures.

Mr. Tanamli has been published in Forbes Magazine and forbes.com.  Mr. Tanamli is a frequent lecturer on the subject of mergers & acquisitions and has led seminars on the subject of mergers & acquisitions for the American Bar Association, Capital Roundtable’s “How to Find a Business to Buy” MasterClass, corporate finance executive training seminars for First Finance Training and Consulting (Paris, France), the Entrepreneurship through Acquisition program at The Harvard Business School and numerous other professional and academic venues.  As an active member of the New York Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth, Mr. Tanamli has developed and maintained extensive contacts in the middle market investment banking and private equity community.   Mr. Tanamli is also a founding member of the board of directors of Business Owner’s Exchange, providing peer advisory resources to business owners and related service providers.
